Itinerary
0900hrs : Set off to the Penampang District for a visit at the native trade market, the
Dongongon Tamu. Donggongon, meaning "rest stop" in the Kadazan language,
reffering to its historical role as a stop-over for people from the hills who
journeyed down the coast for trade. It is one of the best places to buy fresh
locally grown produce. In addition to fruits and vegetables, you can find an
assortment of meats and craft items such as bangles and gongs for sale, as
well as landscaping and garden supplies. If you see something you like, put on
your bargaining skills with the traders because your trip is not complete
without bringing home a souvenier!
